Day 96: London Paddington Station

London Paddington Station

London Paddington station, also known as London Paddington, or just simply Paddington, is a major National Rail and London Underground station complex in the Paddington area near central London, England. It is the seventh busiest rail terminal in London.

The site is a historic one, having served as the London terminus of the Great Western Railway and its successors since 1838. Much of the current mainline station dates back to 1854, and was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The site was first served by Underground trains in 1863, and was the original western terminus of the Metropolitan Railway, the world’s first underground railway.

Day 76: What lies Beneath the City

What lies Beneath the City

I am not too fond of the treatment of this one; I’ve played around with a few ideas but I can’t seem to replicate what I saw in my mind before I pressed the shutter.

Day 59: Queensway

Queensway

(The camera was deliberately tilted)

Queensway is a London Underground station.

It opened on 30 July 1900, as Queen’s Road, and was renamed on 9 September 1946.

The building is an unusual survivor of the buildings designed for the Central London Railway by Harry Bell Measures.

Goodbye, Shepherds Bush Tube Station (2)

More pictures taken at Shepherds Bush Tube Station which was being closed on the day I shot this.

It is being closed for 8 months as part of the development of the White City area.

In this picture, I had hoped to photograph both trains while they were stationary but their movements was not synchronised that evening.

Goodbye, Shepherds Bush Tube Station (3)

This is an old booth probably used for Public Service Announcements before London Underground Ltd (LUL) switched to walkie talkies.

Day 32: Goodbye, Shepherds Bush Tube Station

Goodbye, Shepherds Bush Tube Station

Shepherds Bush Tube Station (Central Line) was being closed on the day I shot this.

It is being closed for 8 months as part of the development of the White City area.

The original station building will be demolished as well and I wish I knew this when I took a series of pictures underground.

I took these pictures to preserve my memory of what the underground looked like before it was refurbished.
