Day 95: New Southern Belle

05 Apr

New Southern Belle

I’ve seen this boat on my visits to Richmond on Fridays but this is the first time I’ve had a chance to get a half decent shot of it in the last two years.

The boat is called "New Southern Belle"; it is a Mississipi-style stern wheeler bringing a flavour of the old New Orleans to the River Thames.

It is half empty in this shot but it usually full of party revellers at this time. I think it is a pub that docks periodically to pick up more punters but I am not really sure. Richmond Bridge is in the background and there is another pier shortly after the bridge where it picks up more punters as well.

I am Interior Design a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I have been looking for an concept image for my final interior design project in college for my innovative children’s/community/science museum that is located in Richmond, Virginia. I have been inspired by your photography and I really like the photo of the Richmond Bridge with the aeroplane. My written concept is “Bridging the past to the future through science, community, and discovery” I was wondering if you had any more photos with the richmond bridge and airplane together, or any others of the Richmond Bridge with the rainbow in the sky. I love them all, and I would love to see more and use the content to develop and execute my concept.

It would be greatly appreciated, and you will be fully credited.
    Thanks so much! Take care!
