About Kayode Okeyode

I first picked up a camera in the mid 1980s; it was my mum’s camera and I was tasked with getting some candid shots during a wedding. The pictures came back from the lab all blurry and out of focus and I resolved never to touch a camera again.

I discovered Flickr in July 2005 and immediately signed up; I was inspired by the pictures I was seeing and ended my self-imposed ban by getting a small point-and-shoot camera in September 2005. It was a Nikon E7900 and I used that camera until December 2005 when I upgraded to a Canon 20D.

These days, I shoot with a Canon 5D and a Panasonic LX3.

London is the only city I know and my focus has been on photographing its interesting landmarks in all kinds of weather. However, I have also been encouraged to introduce human elements into these landmarks as well.

I love photography and I remember spending hours over my mum’s old albums some of which date back to the 1940s; I think those old pictures have really influenced my decision to take up photography as a hobby but I am still trying to find my voice in this medium; I am still trying to understand if what I do really matters at all and I find that I am constantly embarrassed by my work. They lack “soul”.

Your photos are beautiful. Perhaps being lost is part of life’s journey. I am sure you will find your way one day.

    Hi Kayode,

Thanks for your comment on my blog regarding Ganges Bathers. Your own London night shots are quite lovely. Currently my main camera is a Canon 40D, which I love. I notice you’re also using the Pano LX3. I’m really tempted by it.

Do check my answer to your comment above about being lost. It’s on my own blog comment answering yours there. Also above, you say you were inspired by your mums 1940s photos. Did you catch mine from 1950s posted down my blog page? AB

    Kayode,
Your pictures are wonderful – I found your Flickr stream while looking for photos of Shepherds Bush for a local web design company I’m setting up, but I’m amazed by how beautifully and poetically you capture the city.
As with Callum, above, please let me know if you would consider licensing any of your Shepherds Bush photos for me to use.
    Best,
    Rupert

    Hey Kayode,

I’ve been a contact on your flickr for a while, but only just found this website from your Spain celebration shots. They are incredible as is all of your work! A great inspiration. I think as far as the ‘soul’ part of photos is concerned, it’s more about what they mean to you. The soul grows into the photograph with time :)

Kayode, you a genuis in this field that most people consider aan ill venture. the Bible says “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
    Ecclesiastes 9:10
Your shots are interestingly beautiful and full of life. please do not relent because someone somewhere is blessed seeing those shots.
